Being unique in your chosen field is not necessarily a good thing.
One would think that in the business of art this would be the exception.
I do not find that to be so.
To clarify my statement the viewing of uniqueness in art is always a welcomed breath of fresh air.
But art is a business and just what does the commercial end of the business do with something that does not fit easily into a category?
Commercial galleries have a huge overhead therefore they cannot afford the luxury of looking at art from a purely ascetic point of view. Galleries work hard to become branded for the type of work they promote. They build a specific collector clientele that appreciates and trust their point of view.
It is not personal

You cannot sell high heels in a sneaker store.
