NYC September 15th & 16th Adventure.

Many of you know I travel between Rhode Island and New York City. It is a 200 mile bus ride.

I am there for work yet each trip is its own adventure

Many of you are very familiar with NYC but for those of you are not here a couple of statistics.

Manhattan is 22.82 miles long and supports a population of 1.665 million people.

The city has many neighborhoods but the broad picture is.

Uptown Manhattan is the area above 59th Street; Upper Manhattan is the area above 96th Street.

Downtown Manhattan is the area below 14th Street; Lower Manhattan is the area below Chambers Street.

Midtown Manhattan is the area between 34th Street and 59th Street.

West Side is the area west of Fifth Avenue; East Side is the area east of Fifth Avenue.

People travel the length and width of the island by walking, subway, bus, or taxi.

On this adventure there was no subway service to the complete LES.

As you can imagine this complicated daily life a great deal.

Now on to my 9/15/18 NYC adventure

I was coming into the city to participate in a pop up art show that was wonderful.

There are many panhandlers in the city and some are very creative.

The 1st panhandler I encountered had his 5 pet white rats died in a variety of lovely colors. They were quite loving to the man as the scurrying around his neck and chest. If you wanted a photo of them it was $5.00

On Sunday I had plans with L. and  we were going to LES and I walked from Chelsea.

Along my walk I went into the famous store Barney’s where I found the perfect little Valentino pink dress. A mere $2790.00 as cute as it was it is still in the store.

I continue in route to visit a friends art show.

Due to the transportation difficulties she texted me she was running a bit late.

As I waited for K. I went into the shoe store next door. Always a temptation I find hard to resist. I do now have a new pair of lovely boots.

K’s show was great and I then continue on my way to meet L. for a wonderful lunch at Fatullies.

In route I interacted with a man walking his pet pig. For a fee I could pet and photograph him. He was a cutie … but I have no photo.

Soho has a large weekend group of artists that show their work on the street (a street artFair). Some fabulous work!

L. and I had a lovely lunch and then went to another art opening.

Because there was no subway service to the LES. There was a shuttle bus in Chinatown that would bring you up to where you could catch the train.

I got on the bus with 70 Chinese men and woman. I was the tallest person on the bus!

Finally back at the Port Authority to catch my 7:00pm bus back to RI.

By this time I was  tired and my phone had died. There has always been an outlet at the terminal but it had been plated over.

That should have been my 1st clue!

The Providence bus has always been at gate 17 and you should arrive at least 1/2 ahead of time. I was early and the 1st in line.  Still no one in line at 6:30 or 6:45. Mind you I was sitting under a large sign that I had not bothered to read. Finally I look up at the 9ft sign that is telling me the gate has changed to 71!!! OMG that is way on the other side of the terminal. I make it there just on time. There are outlets to charge your phone on the bus, but my outlet did not work!

My dead phone and I had a great adventure.
