THE SPELLING BEE!

4TH GRADE

The young 4th grade child stood along the edge of the classroom petrified for it to be her turn in the spelling bee. Praying she would get a very difficult word and not be embarrassed when she got it wrong.
God!
What if she got the word girl and she reversed the i and r. She would have to go home and beg her parents to move to another school district because she could not possibly ever go back to that school.
The dyslexic learns many tricks to cover up the fact that words and letter just slide around on a page.
For a dyslexic that 4th grade feeling of pure dread is never very deeply hidden in the adult.
