If we accept the premise “The Medium is the Massage” (Marshall McLuhan-1967) should portraiture work; be it traditional, abstract, contemporary ECT be archival?
A fact of nature is that a face changes with time. A portrait captures a representation of a face and freezes that moment it time. If the medium is archival have we frozen the image to last eternally? Is portrait work done in a none archival medium truer to the message?
