My Neighbor's Garden

2026 Silk Paintings/Drawings

Artist Statement’s

As the new year unfolds, my artwork continues to reflect my reaction to society.

My work is created on white dupioni silk and is very pretty.

Beauty and humor can mask the underlying dark side of society.

Working with silk as my medium allows me to fluidly move from one narrative to the next.

As my work progresses this year, it is becoming a series called.

THE ALL AMERICAN WOMAN

I consider myself a narrative figure artist.

Over the years, my media have changed to support my current gestalt.

The silk substrate has been a constant for the past six years.

As in life, there are many different narrative voices. Examples being: the loud center-of-attention voice, the non-verbal, and so on.

I visually speak with a light-hearted humor, a quiet, pretty palette,

In a whisper of a voice. The powerful narrative of the work requires the viewer to invest in deciphering the dichotomy of the piece.

I feel the saying  “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies well to my work.
