SILK THREAD PAINTINGS 2025

Artist Statement

2025 has become a year of transition in my work.

The shift in my work evolves subtly, with unrest and boredom.

Yet, an underlying current always precipitates the change in my work.

None of us lives in a vacuum, and my work reflects how I perceive my environment.

My work is characterized by inclusion, unity, humor, and acceptance.

My work’s saturation of warmth and acceptance has not felt relevant recently.

The works shown beginning in 2025 reflect my assimilation of an environment of isolation and

exclusion.

The DANCING KIMONO series, in which I explored the invisibility of mature women in society.

MOURNING/MORNING is the second work of 2025. This diptych addresses our relationship to

mourning.

My YouTube channel has become a venue for performance art. I share my ongoing video

journal entries, documenting my thoughts and the progression of my work. My journaling

exposes the character evolution in each vignette, a key component of my finished works

FLORALS

Creating artwork is an organic process for me. Thus, my artist statement changes as the

conversation shifts. Allowing my work to remain alive, fostering growth.

I never force the change in focus. I work with a series until I have nothing left to say. Then there

is the dreaded creative period of OH NO WHAT DO I HAVE TO SAY!

Now it is time for me to be quiet and listen. Ideas begin to bubble and catch fire, and a new

series is born.

Florals have often been the focus of my work. Over the past few months, flowers have once

again become a central focus in my work.

This time, the florals are creating an environment populated with figures.
